What to Look for in a Realtor: The 4 Essential Signs of High Quality

When buying or selling a home, almost everyone can benefit from hiring a realtor. In fact, studies have shown that sellers get around 30% more money for their property when working with a professional. But finding the best agent in the local area is a challenge because it’s hard to know what to look for in a realtor. Today, we will examine some of the most important qualities of a great agent.

1. Excellent Communication Skills

Real estate agents have to work with people all day, so they should have excellent communication and negotiation skills. When considering a realtor, take note of their response times and the way they interact with you. Is it easy to get in touch with their office? Are they always friendly and accommodating? And do they explain concepts in a way you can understand? If so, you will have a much easier time working with them.

2. Local Experience

One of the primary reasons why you should hire a realtor instead of selling on your own is that they can help you determine and maximize the value of your property. Since the real estate market varies significantly by location, you should always choose someone who has been operating in the local area for several years.

For instance, Melissa Murphy is a Spokane native, and she has sold hundreds of homes in and around the city. With this level of experience, she’s coached her team to effectively assess your property’s value quickly and accurately. What’s more, she’ll then let you know how to get the most out of your sale by presenting your home in a great light and marketing it in various ways.

3. Testimonials and Recommendations

If you know a friend or family member who’s recently moved to a different home in your area, you could ask them for a recommendation. If not, you could check out the reviews and testimonials of local businesses. Customers who enjoyed working with their realtor are often happy to share their experience online, so good companies with a track record of success will have a decent number of positive reviews.

4. A Great Gut Feeling

While knowledge, experience, and skills are all very important, you shouldn’t neglect your gut feeling. If you like your realtor and you believe that they have your best interests at heart, you’re almost guaranteed to have a better experience than if you’re reluctant or you don’t fully trust them.

For this reason, you should always book a video or in-person consultation with the agent you’re considering. During the face-to-face meeting, you can determine whether they are someone you are comfortable working with for the next few months.

When looking for a real estate agent, you should do your research to make sure you have a good experience. Check that the person you’re considering has great communication skills and local experience and that others have recommended them. You should also take your own instincts into account before making a decision.  The team at Prime Real Estate is experienced,  Call us now at Prime Real Estate Group to book an initial consultation with Melissa Murphy and her team.
