How To Become a Real Estate Agent in Idaho

If you are eager to jump into your new career as a real estate agent in Idaho, here are some prerequisites you’ll need to complete. Depending on whether you want a salesperson license or a broker license, you’ll need to take anywhere from 90 to 180 hours of real estate course hours. Most people start out by getting their salesperson license, since you can always get your broker’s license later.

While that may sound like a lot, most people are able to complete the classwork for their salesperson license in about four to six months. And the fees to take these classes are usually pretty reasonable. If you already have a job or if you need to take more time, you have up to three years to complete the coursework.

After you complete your course, you will need to pass the Idaho Real Estate Licensing Exam. Other requirements to obtain your license include a background check, registration with the state, and obtaining E&O (Errors and Omissions) Insurance. After that, you can jump right into a sales position at a real estate firm and get started helping clients.
